Jana Karmer Reveals Secret About Her Marriage To Allan Russell

Jana Kramer didn’t get married when you think she did.

Kramer, 41, and her husband, Scottish former soccer player Allan Russell, 44, got married in an intimate wedding at Carnell Estate in Scotland on July 13, 2024. The ceremony included the couple’s children, including their young son Roman James Russell, who was born in November 2023. Though Kramer said she honors July 13 as her actual wedding day and anniversary date, she revealed that she and Russell were already legally married at the time. It’s a secret the couple kept for more than a year.

Kramer and Russell responded to questions submitted by fans on the latest Adult Education installment of Whine Down with Jana Kramer. The No Limits Q&A included questions about whether they’d have another baby, whether they’d move to Scotland, how they met and more (plus some “spicy,” NSFW questions).

Toward the end of the Q&A, one fan, Jess, wanted to know whether Kramer and Russell got married before their wedding in Scotland?

Kramer acknowledged that Russell started wearing his ring beforehand, so the couple received “a lot of questions (as to wether) we got married, and we did not answer them.

“I’ve always been incredibly open…so, with this, it was nice to not say anything and let people think what they wanted to think because I didn’t want to share,” Kramer said later. “And it was something between us that we decided that we weren’t going to elaborate more on it.”

Ultimately, however, the couple revealed their secret on Wednesday (March 12).

“Jess, to answer your question, yeah, we got married in January [2024] and we made it formal in July,” Russell said. He noted the “legalities” ahead of their wedding abroad, and added, “we were desperate to marry each other.”

Kramer said she felt “so weird” not being married to Russell after Roman was born, but she said that she wanted the July 13 wedding day “to be special. I didn’t want anything to be taken away from that day.” So, the couple opted to make their marriage legal several months before the Scotland ceremony. Kramer shared details about marrying Russell in January 2024 on Whine Down with Jana Kramer. The podcast host, country artist, actress and author said she drafted and nearly posted an anniversary tribute in January 2025, but decided not to share it publicly in honor of the July anniversary.

She said they did it “just to have that little something for us, that was special to us, that we didn’t announce to everybody.” She said the January 2024 marriage was “private and precious.”
