It's a 1926 Fordson Snow Tractor and it's the only one in the world operational today. Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks recently finished restoration of it, and then shot this video in Creamer's Field off College Road. Willie Vinton, curator at the museum, is piloting the beast in this video. He told me that from the orientation of the driver, as you look down at the 'pontoons,' they spin in toward the body. And as is characteristic of his humor, he added, "nobody's ever fallen off of one of these more than once!"
Below is a tour of the museum on Dennis Gage's program 'My Classic Car.' If you've never been to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, the place is a 'must see.'
