Caroline Jones captures the heart-wrenching reality of divorce in a small town, including when kids are involved.

Jones co-wrote and co-produced an emotional ballad that “confronts the raw vulnerability and grief that follow the heartbreak of a divorce in a small town,” reads a press release issued Friday morning (June 27). “Divorce In A Small Town” meets listeners in the midst of heartbreak after a split, drawing from personal experiences shared by co-writers Sarah Buxton and Eric Paslay.

“Having had a few friends get divorced over the last couple of years, I wanted to write a song that speaks to the grief and complexity of divorce, especially when kids are involved,” Jones said in a statement. “So many people - over half the population - can relate. I imagine people in small towns across America who have to live and breathe their biggest heartbreak over and over every day; running into your ex’s Mother in the grocery store, having to hold your head high while the town gossips about you, swallowing your pride and showing grace so your kids can grow up respecting the other parent. It’s a heavy subject, but it’s real.”

Jones is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is known for her solo work in addition to becoming the first female member of Zac Brown Band (she’s also collaborated and toured with late legend Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, The Eagles, OneRepublic, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, Jake Owen, Vince Gill, and others, notes the press release issued Friday). Jones debuted “Divorce In A Small Town” after “No Tellin’,” Zac Brown Band’s “I Ain’t Worried About It,” plus career-spanning tracks “Come In (But Don’t Make Yourself Comfortable),” “Keep It Safe,” “Million Little Bandaids,” “Lawless” and more.
