Wynonna Judd and Ashley McBryde joined forces on the Moody Center stage in Austin, Texas, expertly blending their voices for a powerful rendition of “I Want To Know What Love Is” during the 2023 CMT Music Awards on Sunday evening (April 2). Judd and McBryde teamed up for one of the highly-anticipated collaborations throughout the evening. Their moving performance struck a chord with the Austin audience and CMT Awards viewers, and many — including fellow powerhouse artist Carrie Underwood — sang along to every word of the classic, Foreigner smash-hit anthem.

McBryde joined Judd on The Judds’ “The Final Tour” dates throughout the past year, along with Martina McBrideKelsea BalleriniLittle Big Town and Brandi Carlile in select cities. Judd embarked on the nationwide tour in honor of her late mother and duo partner, Naomi Judd, the legendary country artist who unexpectedly died last April. She was 76.

Judd also included McBryde and other tour mates in the star-studded lineup of her Love Is Alive — The Final Concert performance at Middle Tennessee State University, recreating her iconic performance with her mother more than three decades ago. That’s when they performed the last show together on the The Judds Farewell Tour, per CMT, which aired the special. That show included some of Judd’s most iconic hits throughout her decades-long career, including “Love Is Alive,” “Born to Be Blue,” “Give A Little Love” and others. The whole lineup closed the show with “Love Can Build a Bridge,” which Judd performed with her mother at the CMT Music Awards last year.
