Route 91 Harvest Festival Has Plans To Return To Las Vegas

Route 91 Harvest Festival

It's been over a year since the horrific, deadly mass shooting at the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival, and although the country fest did not return in 2018, it sounds like plans are underway for 2019.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, sources say that Route 91 Harvest would make its return in the fall of 2019, reportedly at Las Vegas Festival Grounds — a 35-acre location that had previously been considered as a venue for the event since 2016.

Furthermore, event promoter Live Nation has confirmed its plans to bring the festival back. During music industry conference XLIVE, chief operating officer of Country Nation (Live Nation's country music division) Julie Matway responded to a question about the mega-concert. She said, "Route 91 Harvest here in Las Vegas is one of my kids. I am looking forward to how and when we are going to bring that back. We are working hard on that. Hopefully we will get it online for 2019."

Both the Village, where Route 91 Harvest took place at the time of the fatal mass shooting, and Festival grounds are owned by MGM Resorts, and while no plans for the future have been revealed regarding the Village, The Festival Grounds are where the company's events are held. In fact, the first large-scale event to be held on the Festival Grounds since the October 1st attack was The Daytime Stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this September.

Route 91 Harvest Festival made its debut in Las Vegas in 2014, and then rapidly gained fans and festival-goers over the last few years. The fatal mass shooting took place on October 1st, 2017 during Jason Aldean's headlining set, leaving 58 people dead and hundreds more injured.

This year, during the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Aldean remembered all those affected by the tragedy during a special #VegasStrong moment, honoring all of the first-responders from that night. On stage, the country star said, "On behalf of myself and my family, and my family in the country music community, I wanna say thank you to the city of Las Vegas for your courage, strength, and kindness. Tonight, we are all proud to be Vegas strong."
