ZAYN dumped his longtime girlfriend and fiancee Perrie Edwards in 2015 via text message, it was confirmed on Sunday. In her band Little Mix’s upcoming book, “Our World,” Edwards writes that her “four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message” from Malik. “Just like that,” she added.
The revelation quickly led the hashtag “#PerrieExposedZaynParty” to trend on Twitter. For the most part, the majority of commenters seemingly sided with and felt bad for Edwards. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Malik and Edwards split in July 2015. It was rumored shortly afterwards that the former One Direction singer broke up with Edwards with a text message, but now that an excerpt from “Our World” has leaked (below), Malik is once again being scrutinized.
In a passage that shared online from the book, which details her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirwall’s relationships, friendships, and other personal experiences, Edwards writes, “I’m single at the moment and in a really good place. I feel like I’m stronger and happier than I’ve been in a long time. I’ve bought a house and it’s like I’ve found my independence after going through a really rough time.” She then offers, “It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.” “Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me,” notes Edwards.
She further adds in the book, which is slated to be released on October 20, “The girls were amazing. We’d have sleepovers and they’d get my favourite desserts and do everything they could to cheer me up.” A rep for Malik would only say, “No comment,” when asked by Gossip Cop about the claim that he dumped Edwards via a text message.
